Hey there, reader!

I’m Trevonae (pronounced TRE-vuh-nay), a 24 year old storyteller who’s always had a lot to say.

I was born and raised in Manchester, Jamaica, but later moved to Washington D.C. to attend the illustrious – you know I had to say it – Howard University. I graduated with a degree in media, journalism and film communications, and a minor in playwriting. My passion for people and culture inspired me to explore various forms of storytelling, and I fell in love with translating stories from one medium to the next.

• I have 3 siblings, and I’m proudly the washbelly of my family
• I love sorbet BAD. I always enjoy a good sweet treat!
• My favorite sports are track + field, women’s basketball and gymnastics
• I’m a huge animal person, so I squeal at any pet I see in public. I had over 5 dogs throughout my childhood
• I love water, but I cannot swim. Mi nuh know how dat work but mi mek it work
• My iPad and Nintendo Switch are my most important assets – you see me, you see them

Throughout my years, I’ve experienced a litany of events that changed my outlook on the world around us. Whether it was illnesses, rejection, or grief – I learned that this life is a series of deliberate choices to still dream, hope and love in the midst of struggle.

This blog is an outlet for both you and I to find community in our shared (and not so shared) experiences, and to embrace the power of vulnerability. I’m excited to have you here, and I hope you stick around as I turn my ups and my downs into stories for the heart.
